Moon 7 (Volcanic)
The ground is alive with heat, and the company does not care if you melt.
Moon 7 is the volcanic-themed destination in Lethal Company, a co-op survival horror game where crews of corporate employees are dispatched to alien moons to collect scrap and meet a quota. It stands out among the game's roster of biomes for its molten, jagged landscape: rivers of glowing lava, fields of blackened rock, and a perpetual haze of ash and smoke that swallows the horizon. For players who have survived the forest, the caves, and the snow, Moon 7 represents a meaningful step up in environmental hostility.
Its role in the game is that of a mid-to-late-game destination offering elevated scrap value in exchange for a landscape that actively punishes careless movement. The terrain is less about hidden corridors and more about open, exposed ground where a single misstep into a lava channel or a crumbling bridge can end a run instantly. It rewards players who have learned to manage their stamina, their inventory weight, and their group coordination under pressure.

Lore & Background
The Lethal Company's internal dispatch logs treat Moon 7 as a high-yield extraction site, its volcanic geology making it rich in the kind of dense, heat-resistant scrap that fetches a premium at the company's processing facilities. The company's marketing materials, as seen in the in-game briefings, frame the assignment as routine industrial work. The reality, as any surviving crew member will tell you, is considerably less routine.
The moon's surface is a patchwork of solidified lava fields, active fissures, and narrow bridges of cooled basalt that span chasms of molten rock. Thick plumes of sulfurous gas and fine ash drift across the landscape, cutting visibility to a few dozen meters and giving the entire moon a bruised, orange-tinged sky. The heat is a constant, low-grade threat; players who linger too long in open areas or stand too close to active lava flows will find their stamina draining and their options narrowing.
What makes Moon 7 distinct from other high-difficulty biomes is the way the environment itself functions as a predator. A Hound's charge is dangerous, but a Hound that stumbles off a crumbling ledge into a lava channel is a problem for everyone. The moon punishes the same reckless sprint-and-grab mentality that might work on Moon 1, and it rewards crews that move deliberately, watch their footing, and keep an eye on the ground as much as the trees.
In Their Own Story
The radio crackled with static before the dispatcher's voice cut through. "Crew, you're cleared for Moon 7. Quota's set. Don't come back empty."
Mara checked her flashlight, then checked it again. The landing pad was already steaming where the ship's thrusters had scorched the basalt. Around them, the moon stretched out in a smear of black rock and veins of orange light, the sky the color of a bruise left on by a fist. Ash drifted down like slow snow, coating their shoulders, their visors.
"So," said Joon, adjusting his pack. "We walk on fire. Cool."
"We walk on rock that used to be fire," Mara corrected. "There's a difference."
"Is there?"
She didn't answer. She was watching a thin crack in the ground near the landing pad, a hairline fracture through which a faint, pulsing glow leaked up. The ground was breathing. The whole moon was breathing, and the company wanted them to walk across its chest and pick up the shiny things.
She clicked her flashlight on. The beam caught the ash and scattered it into a slow, glowing cloud. Somewhere far off, a sound like a long, low exhalation rolled across the rock. Not a Hound. Not yet. Just the moon, settling.
"Move," she said. "And nobody, nobody runs."
Reader's Guide
Moon 7 presents itself as a vast, open volcanic plain under a thick, orange-tinged sky, with rivers of glowing lava cutting through fields of black basalt and jagged rock formations jutting from the ground. The air is thick with drifting ash and sulfurous smoke, reducing visibility and giving every surface a faint, sulfurous glow.
Dominant terrain features include wide lava channels that act as impassable barriers, narrow basalt bridges and walkways that may crumble under sustained weight, clusters of rocky outcroppings that provide limited cover, and flat open stretches where there is nowhere to hide. Environmental hazards to watch for include active lava pools that deal rapid damage on contact, patches of fire that spread across flammable debris, crumbling floor sections that give way after a few seconds of standing, and the general reduced visibility from ambient smoke that makes spotting entities early much harder.
Scrap yield on Moon 7 is higher than on the early forest and industrial moons, making it a worthwhile target for crews that can handle the environmental pressure. The entity pool is the same standard roster you encounter elsewhere: Hounds, Stalkers, Vultures, Crawlers, and other common species. There is no unique entity exclusive to this moon, but the terrain amplifies every encounter. A Hound chase across a crumbling bridge is a very different experience from a Hound chase through a forest.
Practical tip from a veteran: before you sprint toward a scrap pile, look down. Seriously. On Moon 7, the ground is the first thing that will kill you, not the Hound. Walk, not run, across any bridge or narrow path. If the floor is glowing faintly orange underneath, it is about to give way. And if a Stalker is on the bridge behind you, you do not want to be the one who triggers the collapse. Save your stamina, manage your inventory weight so you are not slowed, and split up only when you have clear sightlines. In the smoke, a separated crew member is a dead crew member.
Did You Know?
- Moon 7's reduced visibility from ambient smoke and ash means that entities can close the distance faster than you expect, making early audio cues (growls, footsteps) more critical than visual spotting.
- The crumbling floor mechanic on Moon 7 interacts with entity behavior: a Hound or Crawler that falls into a lava channel is removed from the encounter, which can be used tactically but also removes a potential threat you
- Scrap collected on Moon 7 carries a higher value at the company's processing facility compared to scrap from early-moon biomes, making it a common target for crews aiming to hit higher quotas in fewer runs.
- The open, exposed terrain of Moon 7 means that the typical 'hide in a small room' strategy used on earlier moons is far less effective, shifting the tactical emphasis toward movement, positioning, and group coordination.
